Lostprophets gig review – Hull City Hall, 6th February
This gig was definitely one of the best ive been to in a long time!
Unfortunately I missed the first support band due to the massive queue outside the venue of people waiting to get in.
Second on were Kids in Glass Houses. They did an excellent job in warming the crowd up for Lostprophets. They played a few old tracks such as “Give Me What I Want” and “Easy Tiger”. The group also performed a few new songs of their upcoming album “Dirt” which is scheduled to be released on the 29th March. (Apologies for photo quality – they were taken with my iPhone)
Next up were Lostprophets – they put on a hell of a show! The guys played a mix of old songs including fan favourites “Last Summer”, “Rooftops” and “Last Train Home”. They also played a few songs from their recently released album “The Betrayed” including “Dstryr / Dstryr” and the brilliant introduction song to their set “If It Wasn’t For Hate”. All songs were received very well by the Hull crowd. My personal favourites from the set were “A Town Called Hypocrisy” and “Shinobi”. They also did a cover of The Prodigy’s “Omen”. I really enjoyed it – they gave the club classic a more rockier sound and edge. In my opinion much better than the original.
Frontman Ian Watkins did an exceptional job in keeping the crowd pumped and going throughout the night. Watkins interacted alot with the audience which was a great touch. Some bands, don’t do this enough which is a real shame.
Overall the Welsh rockers put on an amazing show – you can tell they give it all when they go on stage. They kept the fans happy with the mixture of old and new songs – similar to what they have done with “The Betrayed” album.
The setlist was as follows (I was lucky enough to grab a setlist on the way out of the venue!):

10 February PORSMOUTH, Guildhall

Heaven and Hell to headline Bloodstock 2010

Heaven and Hell
Probably known as one of the greatest metal bands in the world, Heaven and Hell have been announced as the headline act of Bloodstock 2010.
Bloodstock founder Paul Gregory had the following to say:
“10 years of bringing the UK a METAL festival that metalheads can be proud of has just been made better with the announcement of Heaven and Hell. As a fan to say I’m made up with the announcement would be the understatement of the millennium. This year Bloodstock has come of age”
Bloodstock 2010 takes place at Catton Hall, Derbyshire from 13th – 15th August.
Weekend tickets are on sale now at www.bloodstock.uk.com

Impressive Short Film
‘Piledriver’ is an impressive and darkly humourous short film (at 13 minutes) that I have found on the web. Created by Calvin Reader it follows the coming together of a woman and a man who love each other, but it all ends badly….. very badly.

Enter Shikari news

Above: Enter Shikari
Kicking off with two completely new tracks, ‘Thumper’ and the titular ‘Tribalism’, the album takes in a smattering of B-sides, remixes (including a High Contrast remix of Wall, unreleased until now) and live tracks, serving as an attractively priced ‘companion’ piece to 2009’s ‘Common Dreads’ album. The confirmed tracklisting is:
1; Tribalism
2; Thumper
3; All Eyes On The Saint
4; We Can Breathe In Space
5; Insomnia (Live @ Brixton ‘07)
6; Juggernauts – Nero remix
7; No Sleep Tonight – Qemists remix
8; Wall – High Contrast remix
9; No Sleep Tonight – Mistabishi remix
10; Juggernauts – Blue Bear remix
11; No Sleep Tonight – Rout remix
12; No Sleep Tonight – Lights Go Blue remix
13; Havoc A (Live ‘09)
14; Labyrinth (Live ‘09)
15; Hectic (Live ‘09)
Aside from the standard CD release of ‘Tribalism’, a VERY limited edition box set edition- containing; ‘Tribalism’ CD album, ‘Live At Rock City’ CD album, t-shirt, poster, sticker and two button badges – of the release will be sold via the band’s own webstore at www.entershikari.com.
Prior to the album’s release, the track ‘Thumper’ will be released as a single on February 14th.
The release of ‘Tribalism’ follows hot on the heels of some of Enter Shikari’s biggest headline shows to date.
The full dates are as follows:
Saturday 6th Feb – BLACKPOOL – Empress Ballroom
Sunday 7th Feb – GLASGOW – Barrowlands
Monday 8th Feb – GLASGOW – King Tuts (SOLD OUT)
Tuesday 9th Feb – MIDDLESBROUGH – Empire
Thursday 11th Feb – BOURNEMOUTH – O2 Academy
Friday 12th Feb – LONDON – Hammersmith Apollo
(support on all dates – except King Tuts – The King Blues).
2010 looks set to be another manic year for Enter Shikari. Following a successful arena tour at the end of 2009 as special guests to The Prodigy the band are set to tour Australia on the Soundwave Festival in late February, followed by a batch of Japanese headline shows (supported by Escape The Fate and A Day To Remember) in early March, an extensive North American tour in April and May, before journeying to Russia for their first ever shows in St Petersberg, Moscow and Kalingrad.
Having also been invited back by The Prodigy as the only rock band to join the bill alongside Pendulum and Chase & Status at the Milton Keynes Bowl in July and a summer that will find Enter Shikari making their presence felt across the main stages of the European festival circuit, before heading back to the USA & Canada for their slot on 2010’s Warped Tour, it’s very much business as usual for the St Albans quartet. It isn’t for no good reason that the band were recently voted ‘Best Live Band’ of 2009 in the Rock Sound reader’s poll (alongside best album for ‘Common Dreads’ we hasten to add.)
